Unison
Book, Music, and Lyrics by Adina Kruskal
Unison follows a tight-knit high school wind ensemble infected with a bad outbreak of Senioritis. As deadlines loom one after another, seven seniors struggle to balance band with the intense demands of the college application process. Between audition prep, personal essays, roommate pacts, and Ivy League rejections, everyone’s individual problems pull them away from the group, leaving some students lost along the way. In order to lock in their post-grad plans without destroying their friendships, they’ll have to practice hard, but party harder.

Skidmore Theater Playwright's Lab
Unison began as a twenty minute musical written by Adina Kruskal at the National Theatre Institute at the O'Neil Center. It was then adapted into a full length musical and, after several readings, was part of the Skidmore Theater Playwright's Lab. Playwright's Lab is a program within the Skidmore Theater Department that allows a playwright and a director to cast through general auditions and hold two staged readings at the beginning and the end of the semester. Each reading has a week of rehearsal. The Skidmore Playwright's Lab production was the point at which Mira Lamson Klein joined the creative process for Unison.
